Right on, I've watched a lot of European builds on Y tube, there are a lot of comments on how their methods/materials/craftsmenship are better than most American building, That being said I'd put the two guys against anyone out there.
The contrast between the colours really gives the building a character that would be missing if it was all one colour. It avoids making it look like a “block” with no soul. Instead it fulfils the nature of what is a commercial building, while making it look more suited to a residential area. Haven’t explained that well, but suffice it to say, it looks fantastic. Well done.
My guys screwed up a board and batton LP siding and got thrown off the job by the homeowner so naturally I'm gonna finish it myself and I haven't done Borden Batten but have a good understanding of general construction intolerances know that anyway you guys rock! I learned so much from watching your videos and know that I'm going to finish this project up bringing in my own helper it's going to be a breeze!! Thank you again!!
My favorite guilty pleasure as a devoted wife of 20 years whom is also a self-made home remodeling carpenter/construction woman and "Jill of all trades" is watching these attractive men build on this channel ha ha ha. Hubby approves too. Great job guys. I just love the attention to detail and overall craftmanship. Keep teaching us through your work please! God bless y"all!
What a change everything makes a difference we really enjoy the look of things in the way it turned out we appreciate taking us along on this adventure cannot wait to see you the next one 😆😆😆😆🤩🤩🤩🤩🤔🤔🤔🤔🤠🤠🤠🤠🤓🤓🤓🤓
Building looks great. Love you guys. Must be great working with your best friend all day. You can hardly call it work at that point. Keep the videos coming.
Wow, that is really sharp. The glass overhead door gives the building a modern look without going too far. This is a pretty big aesthetic departure from your typical build. It will be interesting to see if any of your clients want something similar. Please let us know what it takes to keep that glass overheard door looking good over time.
Shop is really starting to take shape and is looking great. I wish I could get you and Greg to build my shop in Arkansas. Not sure I could afford you. But you build a great building. You build to last and I like that.
I like all that you are doing with the colors, board and batten and the trim but think you should have used a house wrap with dimples on it to have a true air barrier between the battens and the wall sheathing. Even just 1/8" between the boards would allow the air and water to flow out.
Hey kyle. If u buy a window screen kit it comes with a roller to install the rubber that holds the screen in. That roller also works awesome for the baker rod.
I share Kyle's OCD-style habits of building and my partner helps keep me moving on projects, much like Greg does in these builds. It's nice to have another voice confirming your thoughts or checking yourself against. You guys have a great partnership and channel here!
The secret of smartside is the coating , it is supposed to completely seal the OSB from exposure to water , it does work to a good degree but any scratch, chip , saw cut , whatever that breaks that seal coating will start its undoing. Any water sitting on a horizontal surface will start its undoing. An unsealed saw cut that gets wet is fatal in short order. One should keep a sealant (paint or whatever) handy and seal any break in the coating that could possibly ever see water and flash any horizontal surface. No matter what figure on serious repairs or new siding in about 15-20 years.
At 12:15 I would use a much lighter "hickory handle" hammer. Personally I've both (even plenty of hammers :) but more and more I keep the heavier steel Stanley on my belt and then use my much lighter Lee Valley wooden handle hammer. But you surely need both ...
I know A LOT of ppl think ur extra but Im OCD too, so i appreciate your ridiculous attention to details nobody will EVER SEE 😂. Love the contrast on the building too.
hey Kyle, try a wider trim around the door opening & delete the batten on the sides, as it'll look better i think, the batten could well be flush to the outer edges of the door trims & make it look mega central :)
I see a raw uncovered end on the facia at the gutter end, that will eventually take water , it is OSB so you know what will happen, just like mine has.
Love your thought process and execution. With regard to mud - Have you ever considered a ground up corn cobb based product used to dry dirt baseball fields? We used Diamond Dry a lot and it worked wonders by dumping bags on and raking it in....maybe it would help in your lift paths...a little extra work but works wonders to dry up an area quick
When tapping trim pieces into place, rather than using the head of the framing hammer try tapping it with the cushioned end of the hammer handle to minimize the chance of marring the piece.
Hey Kyle, you guys were fantastic as usual, and the editing was great, as usual. Watched it a second time with my wife, as we continue to look toward hiring you in the future. But DUDE, as you would say, on the ads, there were two 15s strung together about every 3-4 minute throughout this video! We all want you guys to make money, but I wish I would have kept track of the total time from the beginning because it took at least an extra 20-25 minutes to watch the whole thing on top of the 53:33…. Wow! And I don’t need Fabreze anyway, let alone 5 or more times…. Which raises the question: Do you pick the ad format, or does RUclips, and do their algorithms pick the content? If we’re going to get so many ads, it sure would be nice to have some from Paslode and Stabila and LP and especially Diamondback and Martinez instead of scent stuff and toilet paper stuff that has nothing to do with what you’re doing or the great tools and materials.
When you were doing insulation you said you would do a video explaining why you chose batt insulation over spray foam. I am getting ready to put up a steel building ad am deciding on insulation. Will you still be doing that insulation video?
The issue at OH door...I would have ripped that piece and started with a whole sheet at the edge o f the door. You ate less likely to notice the narrower piece over the door than the batten at the trim. IMO. Great video series. Thanks for not filling it with BS music.
Trick I use for caulking so I don’t get it all over my finger. I wrap a plastic bag around my hand / finger. The. Once I swipe I move that area of the bag and hold it in my palm.
Kyle, for the amount of time you work on disturbed soil, have you looked into AlternaMATS? Save the ground & your equipment, and darn near indestructible. Just a thought.
Hey Kyle, the horizontal trim board you installed starting at 41minute mark looked like the notch wasn't painted, unless you did it off camera. just throught i would give you a heads up
i am curious, can water get between the boards and battens? If it does is it enough to matter over time? I would think some water will ooze behind the battens.
Hey I noticed on a previous video you used rain screen doing your install. But in this video you did not use it. Is it required to to use rain screens over the RWB-Tyvek ? If not, it will sure save us a lot of time. Look fwd to your reply.
Kyle, question for ya, I know the expert finish and then there is diamond kote which is same product just different finishes and diamond kote has rigid stacks, have you ever considered that product? I’m a 15 year tradesman tried selling materials for a year wasn’t for me so started my own framing company! But love your work and channel
You guys are the best builders on RUclips, exceptional attention to detailed finishes! Great working relationship!

You're a great contractor and builder! Know a few things, you're concise, you have integrity, and you explain the reasoning. Great job bro!😊
Greg is a SAINT!
Kyle likes to play and pick on him, here and there. It's sweet, you can tell they are bros.
Seems less like joking and more like nit picking. “Do things my way or else”
Hes got some great head ache meds in his pocket i bet.

I always enjoy watching "perfection in motion"... keep on putting out the great content guys!
Yes you have to pay the camera guy but he is saving you so much time and money. What a great addition to the team.

It's amazing how the one detail, the battens, bring everything together. Really nice.

The banter between you and Greg is hilarious 🤣
Good lord, the way the battens, standing seems, and even muntins all align is stunning. Great attention to detail.
The footwear scene had me rolling. 🤣
That stuff looks, applies and is AMAZING! 🤯
Great Look! I've got to believe that the nearby neighbors are pleased.
Looks like the building could be the Go-To place for neighborhood parties.
Shop is really starting to take shape and is looking great. I wish I could get you and Greg to build my shop in Arkansas. Not sure I could afford you. But you build a great building. You build to last and I like that.
Good idea going with the white as constrast, maybe do the white over the other garage door. Great fun video Thanks Kyle.
Keep up the great work guys, RRHQ 2.0 is really taking shape (from a visual perspective).
What professionalism guys ! I've done similar with metal . Great attention to detail .
That looks so good, I really love how you are separating the sections of the building
I like the black trim between the vertical and horizontal gray. Somewhat mocks the opposing downspout and breaks up the “separate” buildings
Looks killer, cant wait to see the exterior finished up
your attention to detail is amazing. i love it. i am the same way with what i do. god bless us all

Wow, you really get use out of that scissor lift! It is interesting watching how DIY'ers struggle with what one machine could do so much to simplify.
Knocked it out of the park, the exterior is coming together very nicely. Some damn fine work!

That gray with black trim is sick, I actually like it over the all black which I thought was amazing.
I know A LOT of ppl think ur extra but Im OCD too, so i appreciate your ridiculous attention to details nobody will EVER SEE 😂. Love the contrast on the building too.
It's looking amazing guys! I'm sure liking those glass garage doors, I wish I would of went with them!
I actually like the color of the weather logic board. I wish i could find siding that color. I would have also contrasted my batons.
You could use a 1x6 or bigger around your door openings to deal with the batten issue. Love your channel and your quality of work
great detail!! Looking good.
PERFECT ... 👍 Corp.
architectural....
hey Kyle, try a wider trim around the door opening & delete the batten on the sides, as it'll look better i think, the batten could well be flush to the outer edges of the door trims & make it look mega central :)
Great choice of color combinations. Looks great!
Looking good, great contrast.
28:56 "well that's too damn bad!!" 😂😂😂
I see a raw uncovered end on the facia at the gutter end, that will eventually take water , it is OSB so you know what will happen, just like mine has.
Loving the 2 tone look! Keep up the great work fellas!
Greg was home schooled. The best
glad im not the only one singing mulan songs on the jobsite. the guys love it....
Just got my answer at 43:26. Thanks
Good for you to shut it down to attend your daughters track meet. Work will always be there when you come back!!
Looking sweet lads
LOOKING GOOD

Yes @22:51. That is a GOOD look.
It's looking good.
Love it looks really gd nice work
Great job as always guys. How’s Greg’s brother doing? Would be nice to see him again. 👍👍🏴🏴
I like the black trim
Looks awesome
Love the details on the building 😊
Well done fellas, again.
The issue at OH door...I would have ripped that piece and started with a whole sheet at the edge o f the door. You ate less likely to notice the narrower piece over the door than the batten at the trim. IMO.
Great video series. Thanks for not filling it with BS music.
Goodjob looks Awesome
For sure that caulking gun is a game changer
Looks great!
Looks awesome my dudes 🤜🏼
That difficult are you were working on when you had to take your shoes off looks like a perfect area for a bees nest.
Happy Saturday
Looks sick boys!!! Bravo 👏
Awesome job guys
Just found your channel. Good work. I will soon start my project which I am calling "The Garagemahol" a 48' x 84' barn/shop/apartment/storage
How'd I not notice until now that you switched over to Badger bags? Love that custom set!
Looking good!
Nice Job looks stunning 👍👏
Do you have to use or should you use caulk on all the battens? What happens if water gets behind them?
Holy matrix glitch at 46:36 at the top of that batten strip 😮
As usual, very nice job!
How do you keep moisture from getting behind the battons
So, do you not need to caulk each side of the batten to prevent water intrusion? If not, how does it prevent water from getting behind the siding?
Trick I use for caulking so I don’t get it all over my finger. I wrap a plastic bag around my hand / finger. The. Once I swipe I move that area of the bag and hold it in my palm.
The color combo looks good but I would’ve done the black everywhere.
nice work fellas!
Looks great!
Should the window flashing go under the siding and over the window trim?
Is there a reason you didn't use a rain screen behind the siding?
Kyle, for the amount of time you work on disturbed soil, have you looked into AlternaMATS? Save the ground & your equipment, and darn near indestructible. Just a thought.
Looks fantastic
Hey Kyle, the horizontal trim board you installed starting at 41minute mark looked like the notch wasn't painted, unless you did it off camera. just throught i would give you a heads up
DAMNIT!! Now it’s stuck in my head. Family movie night will have to be Mulan, I guess.
i am curious, can water get between the boards and battens? If it does is it enough to matter over time? I would think some water will ooze behind the battens.
Hey I noticed on a previous video you used rain screen doing your install. But in this video you did not use it. Is it required to to use rain screens over the RWB-Tyvek ? If not, it will sure save us a lot of time. Look fwd to your reply.
looks amazing.love the color
Love it. Great work
Looks great
lol Greg putting Stanley on blast :P
Looks Superb
Kyle, question for ya, I know the expert finish and then there is diamond kote which is same product just different finishes and diamond kote has rigid stacks, have you ever considered that product? I’m a 15 year tradesman tried selling materials for a year wasn’t for me so started my own framing company! But love your work and channel
